Charlie Owens

Charlie Owens is an artist on  Dharawal and Wodi Wodi country.
This recent artwork illustrates the trope of the Maiden, Mother and Chrone. The narrative behind this piece is  wisdom shared in the generational circle of women.
Fishing is a communal skill that is to be taught in person, an instinctual wisdom pass down through tongue. You learn to read the language of the water and where to throw a line. We have all heard the quote,

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

I wanted to show the value of the voices of our mothers and how as women we protected one another by sharing our personal experiences.
